We are proud to offer for sale this unique Land Rover Defender 6x6 created by Land Rover specialists Retro Works of Scotland.
In 2020 a customer wished to purchase a Defender with six-wheel drive but after months of unsuccessful searching it was decided the only way to meet this requirement was to build one from scratch.
A suitable donor vehicle was sourced in the form of a 2013 two-owner, UK-delivered, 2.2 Puma Defender 110 Crew Cab in County specification.
The 110 was then fully dismantled and the bulkhead, chassis, axles, suspension components, body-cappings and door frames were sent away for galvanising and powder-coating to ensure longevity.
Prior to this, the chassis was extended to accommodate an additional rear axle to provide air-operated six wheel drive activated by a button on the dashboard.
As the donor 110 had only covered a little over 30,000 miles it was decided to retain the original 2.2 Puma engine but with a power upgrade to circa 190 bhp. Bilstein suspension was installed along with Alcon brakes front and rear with braided brake lines.
As the chassis was extended so was the rear pick-up tub which was finished in Iroko, a durable African teak and a custom-made rollover bar was also installed. The body was painted in Land Rover Corris grey with a satin lacquer finish to emphasise its utilitarian character.
The interior was completely retrimmed and features an Alcantara headlining and four individual heated Recaro seats finished in Chocolate leather with brown Harris Tweed inserts, along with matching front and rear cubby boxes and door cards. A double-DIN Apple Carplay/Android unit is incorporated into a piano black dash-centre with reversing camera and uprated speakers.
Externally, Optimill heated mirrors with puddle lights are fitted along with Optimill anti-theft hinges and alloy fuel cap. A custom front bumper has built-in LED lights and a Heritage grill presents a classic look. Wheels are 16” Wolf items with a custom body-coloured lip and one-piece billet wheel nuts. Tyres are oversize 285/75/16 BF Goodrich A/Ts.
See below for full specification.
Unfortunately the current owner is now stationed overseas indefinitely and consequently the Land Rover has seen little use since completion showing less than 33,000 miles from new and is reluctantly offered for sale at significantly less than its build cost.
The car is UK registered and comes complete with original book-pack, spare key and tools.
This build was completed to the highest standard with no expense spared and represents a unique opportunity to acquire a truly unique Land Rover.
